Shell low cone-shaped, elongated oval, with strong, in most cases tuberculate radial ribs; usually more or less extensively covered by the margin of the mantle, less frequently free; hole situated in the center of the shell, moderately large to fairly large, bordered by a callus internally.
Animal not considerably larger than the shell, which is more elevated posteriorly than anteriorly; the simple mantle usually covers the margin of the shell. Central plate of the radula about as long as broad.
Subgenus Lucapina s. s. (synonyms Foraminella (Guilding) Sowerby, 1835; Chlamydoglyphis Pilsbry, 1890). Shell low with fairly large oval hole, positioned anterior of the center; surface distinctly latticed; inner callus posteriorly truncated; margin situated in one plane, finely pleated. The mantle margin extends over the outer part of the shell surface.
