Shell with nine or ten whorls, the first three smooth and increasing slightly, the next three carinated below the middle, the lower whorls rounded, those below the fourth generally having delicate, curved, longitudinal ribs; the base is sculptured with faint revolving grooves; aperture somewhat rounded; columella feebly curved and ending in a slight lip below, behind which is a small umbilical chink; outer lip not thickened. Color brownish.
Length, 3.5; diameter, 1.26 mm.

Finella dubia (d'Orbigny, 1840) Dubious Finella
Distribution: North Carolina to Florida, Texas; Brazil; Bermuda. Size: 3 mm
Description: Color translucent white; shape elongate-conic; sculpture of axial and spiral ribs giving cancellate appearance; nuclear whorls smooth; teleoconch with narrow, curved, axial ribs with spiral threads; aperture rounded, outer lip thin with weakly curved columella.
Habitat: Found in intertidal and shallow, subtidal sandy-mud-type substrates to depths up to 805 m (2640 ft).
Remarks: This snail is difficult to distinguish from Bittiolum varium and Cerithium lutosum. See Andrews (1977).
Synonyms: Alabina cerithidioides (Dall, 1889); Bittium cerithidioides (Dall, 1889).
