The shell is moderate in size (maximum length 65 mm) and fusiform, The spire is high and acute, consisting of two smooth nuclear whorls and six or seven weakly shouldered postnuclear whorls. The suture is indistinct or obscured. The body whorl is moderate in size and fusoid. The aperture is small and ovate, with a small, shallow anal sul¬cus. The outer apertural lip is marginally, weakly crenulate and smooth within, except for two or three somewhat stronger denticles on the shoulder portion. The columellar lip is adherent parietally, detached and weakly erect for most of its length, and one or two parietal denticles delimit the anal sulcus on the left side; below this are seven to ten denticles, these becoming stronger anteriorly. The siphonal canal is moderately long, weakly bent to the right, barely open to the right, and strongly, dorsal]y recurved.
The body whorl bears three varices. Intcrvarical axial sculpture consists of two, or more commonly three nodose ridges, the one nearest the newest varix much less prominent than the other two. Spiral sculpture consists of seven major cords intercalated with minor cords. Where the major cords cross the intcrvarical ridges and varices, prominent nodes are developed. The uppermost major cord, at the shoulder margin, is drawn out into a spinelike point on the varix. On the varix, at about the midpoint of the body, a thin pleated webbing is developed, extending anteriorly to the midpoint of the canal. On the canal the webbing is drawn into two or three spinose points.
Shell color is purple-pink, with three spiral brown bands and other lines of brown markings following the spiral elements. The nuclear and early postnuclear whorls are bright pink.

Distribution: Texas; Virgin Islands to Barbados. Size: 79 mm.
Description: Color purplish-pink with spiral brown bands, protoconch pink; shape spindlelike; sculpture of axial nodulose varices with axial intervarical nodulose ridges in between; spiral sculpture of prominent cords intercalated with minor cords that cross over the axial sculpture, producing stronger nodules where the major cords cross; suture hidden by succeeding whorls; aperture subovate; outer lip crenulate; siphonal canal long and narrow; parietal shield adherent to body whorl. Habitat: Tropical calcareous environments at depths from 14 to 110 m (46 to 360 ft). Remarks: In Texas found at Stetson Bank. See Radwin and D'Attilio (1976); Garcia (2000).
