Odostomia lorellae
Habitat: it lives in the infralittoral and circalittoral zones. It is found into detrital sediments.
Distribution: locality pattern is Acitrezza (Catania - Sicily - Italy) but it is collected in the Adriatic Sea, at Montecristo Is. (Tuscan Archipelago - Italy) and at Astipalea (Greece) too.
Notes: shell small in sizes, protoconch type B. Ovoid in outline, whorls not much convex and suture evident. Last whorl is about 60% of total height. Into the aperture, stretched, it is visible one tooth weak on columella, umbilicus either just sketched or missing, growth lines prosocline. This species was put in synonymy (Pizzini, 1992) and afterwards accepted as valid species (Pizzini, 1994) with O. carrozzae but it is recognizable mainly due to protoconch sizes: 330 micron as far as carrozzae is concerned, instead of 200 micron as far as lorellae is concerned.
Average measures of adult specimens are around 2-2.5 mm in height.
