Trimusculus mammillaris
Habitat: it lives fixed to rocks in the infralittoral zone. It is very often noted at the base of Actinia equina. Distribution: common all over the Mediterranean, more common in the South-West sector.
Notes: shell solid, patelliform, apex subcentral, a little bit bent laterally, more or less depressed, variable and more circular in outline as far as adult specimens are concerned, oval in outline in immature specimes. Sculpture made by numerous radial little ribs starting from
apex up to margin of peristome which is denticulated. These ribs are crossed by fine concentric striae.
Juvenile forms have apex placed on the margin of peristome. Uniform white yellowish in colour. Perhaps this species is better known under the name Gadinia gamoti. In literature there are some varieties in form, among them we remind compressa and minor, described by Pallary, 1900. Average measures of adult specimens are around 10 mm in diametre.
