E. linctum, type species of Linctoscala, has been found in the western Mediterranean Sea and off Mauritania in waters with a minimum depth of 50 meters. It reaches a maximum size of approximately 8mm. There are 7-8 teleoconch and 3 protoconch whorls. The suture is narrowly open. The umbilicus can be open but is partially hidden by the outer lip. The 13 or so costae are thin and blade-like with a peak below the suture. The outer lip is broad and the aperture is oval. There are no spiral lines between the costae.
We consider Linctoscala to be a synonym of Epitonium.
