Distribution: Bermuda; North Carolina to Gulf of Mexico, Texas; West Indies. Size: 4 mm
Description: Color translucent white; shape elongate-conic; smooth, flat sided; approximately 7 slightly convex glassy whorls; suture shallow; apex acute; aperture oval, outer lip thickened; anomphalous.
Habitat: Under shell and debris in grassy bottoms beyond littoral zone. Depth range 0 to 51 m (168 ft).
Remarks: Confusion exists between offshore and nearshore species. Ode (1986) describes those Z. browniana collected offshore in calcareous environments with a tooth located on the inner side of the outer aperture as probably Z. eulimoides; whereas those without a tooth found near shore are Z. browniana. Specimen 1 toothed; specimens 2 and 3 untoothed. All from FGB. See Ode (1986c); Barrera (2001).
