Bameystrombus n. gen. (type species Strombus kleckhamae Cernohorsky. 1971) is described as a new genus within the STROMBIDAE. It is compared with Dolomena Wenz, 1940: Margistrombus Bandel. 2007: Ministrombus Bandel. 2007 and Labiostrombus Oust high. 1925. The only other taxon assigned to this new genus is Strombus kleckhamae boholensis Mühlhausser, 1981, considered here as full species instead of subspecies. Comparison of S. kleckhamae and S. boholensis with the type species of Dolomena based on characters of the shells and opercula, clearly indicated that a placement within Dolomena is incorrect. So is a placement within the new Bandelian subgenera/genera. Therefore. I find it necessary to describe a new genus for S. kleckhamae and S. boholesis.

• Barneystrombus differs from Dolomena in having the posterior portion of the outer lip curving to the left at the base of the spire (viewed ventrally) to form a narrow channel that inserts almost at the suture of the penultimate whorl, a less flared outer lip with an unglazed rather than glazed edge, a wider and slightly shallower stromboid notch, blunt and uniform knobs on the shoulders of the body and penultimate whorls, spire whorls with shoulders not strongly angled, teleoconch whorls lacking strong axial riblets. lacking a row of small bumps in the middle of the body whorl, a wide and elongated siphonal canal that twists to the left (viewed ventrally). and a smooth rather than serrated convex edge to the operculum.
• Barnexstrombus differs from Margistrombus in having a slightly more flared outer lip with a blunt rather than sharp edge to the outer lip (the edge is unglazed in both), a blunt-edged posterior canal that inserts lower on the spire, a taller spire having less sharply angled .whorls, blunt and uniform knobs on the shoulders of the body and penultimate whorls rather than the shoulders being rounded or with a keel, lack of strong axial riblets above the penultimate whorl, a wide and elongated siphonal canal that twists to the left (viewed ventrally) rather than being straight and a deeper stromboid notch. The operculum has a smooth, rather than serrated, convex outer edge.
• Barnexstrombus differs from Ministrombus in having a less flared outer lip with a less blunt and unglazed edge, a less thickened posterior canal that crosses to the left beneath the base of the spire before inserting almost at the suture of the penultimate whorl rather than running parallel to the spire and inserting onto the spire at the suture above the penultimate whorl, blunt and uniform knobs on the shoulder of the body whorl, a less steep spire with less strongly angled shoulders to the whorls, a wide and elongated siphonal canal that twists to the left (viewed ventrally) rather than being straight, a less thickened columellar callus with plicae over the entire length, lirae on the whole interior surface of outer lip rather than only on the abapical portion, presence of dorsal sculpture in the form of spiral threads extending the length of the shell (very weak mid-dorsally on the body whorl, becoming stronger toward the outer lip) and a deeper stromboid notch. The operculum has a smooth, rather than serrated, convex outer edge.
• Barnexstrombus differs from Labiostrombus in having a blunt and unglazed edge to the outer lip. the rim of the outer lip not reflected away from the columella and not forming a flared smooth curve, the adapical portion of the outer lip crosses to the left (viewed ventrally) and inserts onto the base of the spire almost at the suture of the penultimate whorl rather than inserting at the top of the body whorl and forming a posterior canal that runs parallel to the shoulder of the body whorl, a lower spire with shoulders of body and penultimate whorls adorned with blunt and uniform knobs rather than being smooth or only slightly bumpy, lack of strong axial riblets on teleoconch whorls, presence of dorsal sculpture in the form of spiral threads extending the length of the shell (very weak mid-dorsally on the body whorl, becoming stronger toward the outer lip), and a wide and elongated siphonal canal that twists to the left (viewed ventrally). The operculum has a smooth, rather than serrated, convex outer edge. Only S. boholensis is also incorporated into the new genus because the characters of that taxon correspond with the generic characters of S. kleckhamae. The non-serrated outer edge of the opercula of S. kleckhamae and S. boholensis. in contrast to the serrated opercula of Dolomena (sensu Abbott, I960), was noted by Morrison (1977).
