This species is half egg-shaped in outline, apex unrolled placed just upper posterior margin. Sculpture is rather variable, axial ribs are more or less broad and irregular, while concentric streakiness is quite close and weaker. There are almost always some papillae at the intersection of striae. This characteristic can be checked in juvenile specimens too.
Its similar one E. multistriata is a rather similar form but it has larger sizes, carina matching basal crack is less strong and sculpture closer and regular. Moreover this species lives in a deeper habitat. Uniform dirty white in colour. Average measures of adult specimens are around 10-12 mm in length.

It lives in a coralligenous habitat in the circalittoral zone (usually at 80-100 m depth), but it is collected even in remarkable depths (400 m and over).
Distribution: it is found all over the Mediterranean. Relatively common.
