Vink suggested that this subspecies differed from the nominate race in being reddish brown to dark brown as opposed to lighter shades of brown. The anterior end of the shell is usually brownish black in G. f. burryae, whereas it is white or only slightly brownish in G.f. floridanus. He also said that G.f. burryae is smaller and narrower with often a more convex body whorl. I have reproduced Vink's characters nearly verbatim. Unfortunately only the anterior end color seems to be useful in identifying these two subspecies. A series of specimens from throughout the range would be needed to confirm the validity of these two subspecies and to completely outline the ranges of each. This subspecies as noted above is more correctly identified as G. anabathrum burryae.
