Conus anabathrum Crosse, 1865 Florida Cone
Distribution: North Carolina, Florida, Texas. Size: 51 mm (2 inch).
Description: Color of base white with reddish-orange splotches and with darker dashed lines superimposed on the spiral grooves that ornament the surface of the shell, typically there is a white band in the middle of the body whorl; shape biconic; sculpture of spire extended and pointy; spire whorls with fine spiral threads between the carinate sutures; teleoconch axial sculpture of fine growth lines; aperture long and slender; outer lip thin. Habitat: Seagrasses and algal mats at depths from below shoreline to 35 m (115 ft). In Texas found on offshore banks and reefs.
