As Conus (Conus) keatiformis Shikama & Oishi, 1977:
Shell large sized, thick, conical with almost straight sides. Spire not high with 10 volutions and many fine spiral striations. Suture shallow and surface of last whorl smooth, lustrous, white with regular brown blotches arranged in 3 relatively broad bands and the other 7 narrow bands.
Holotype: Shell 62.6mm high and 31.0mm wide, stored in the writer's collection, presented by OISHI. Locality: East China Sea.
Remarks: Conus (Phasmaconus) keati SOWERBY of Indian Ocean is rather allied to this species in general outline and colour pattern but in distinct by more distinct spiral grooves of anterior portion and by more round shoulder. C. (Pionoconus) stramineus is also clearly distinguished from this by different colour pattern and by more spiral grooves.
