Interchangeable taxa

The figure of this species, which was referred to Pontiothauma by von Martens (1903), suggests by the growth lines, a rather deep turriculid style sinus, quite foreign to that of Pontiothauma, which has at most, a very weak sutural sinus. Martens' species seems to be somewhat allied to Schepman's Spergo sibogae from near the Kei Islands, Indonesia in 560 metres. Both species fit reasonably well into the genus Comitas.
