The present material is in accordance with typical specimens from the tropical Western Pacific. Coralliophila bulbiformis is similar in the globose shape and the pink-violet aperture to C violacea (Kiener, 1836), differing in its sculpture of alternating major and minor imbricate spiral cords. With C latilirata Rehder, 1985, C radula (A. Adams, 1854) and C. squamulosa (Reeve, 1846) it shares a globose shell and a scabrous sculpture, but the spire is taller and the sculpture is more scabrous. Coralliophila bulbiformis has a lower spire than C. costularis (Lamarck, 1816) C. fearnleyi (Emerson & D'Attilio, 1965) and C. mira (Cotton & Godfrey, 1932).

Tropical and subtropical Indo-West Pacific. Kermadec Islands and north-eastern North Island, New Zealand, 0-70 m, taken alive at 15-29 m from hermatypic corals, on which it presumably feeds (Brook 1999: 453).
