Fusiform, spire tal1, whorls convex, base of body whorl contracted, siphonal canal extended; sculpture of broad, low, axial ribs, 7-8 per whorl, crossed by crowded imbricate spiral cords, anterior cords spinose; aperture elongate-ovate, outer wall finely lirate; columella narrowly calloused. Fasciole small, umbilicus closed. White to grey; interior violet to purple.
6 cm, Indo-West Pacific; Geraldton to Kimberley, Western Australia. A rather common species among living corals in WA, extending well south into the temperate zone. SOURCE: WILSON, Australian Marine Shells, part 2. 1994.
