Description

The shell is moderately small for the genus (maximum length 15 mm) and broadly fusiform. The spire is high, consisting of five or six angulate postnuclear whorls and a protoconch of unde-termined nature. The suture is impressed. The bodv whorl is of moderate size and fusoid. The aperture is moderately small and ovate, with a shallow7 anal sulcus. The outer apertural lip is erect and strongly, marginally undulate; its inner surface bears several pairs of weak denticles. The columellar lip is weakly erect above, detached and erect below. The siphonal canal is moderately short, narrowly open to the right, and distally recurved.
The body whorl bears six or seven varices. Other axial sculpture consists of fine axial lamellae, close-set between the cords, developing into scales on the cords. Spiral sculpture consists of six strong cords, equally spaced on the body; the cord at the shoulder margin and the two on the shoulder are the most prominent of those on the body whorl; the canal bears two cords, which terminate on the varices as short, recurved spines. The leading edge of each varix is markedly fimbriate; the trailing edge is deeply excavated between spiral cords, the cords themselves finely, spirally striate.
Shell color is white, with scattered brown blotches. The entire shell, when unworn, is cov¬ered with a moderately thick intritacalx, laid down as axial growth striae.
