Modiolus ligneus (Reeve, 1858)
18-36 mm. -> Anterior broadly rounded. Pericostracum shiny chestnut brown, often peels off in big flakes. Shell white or white and reddish-purple. M. ligneus makes a nest under the sand. (28 mm)
Distribution: Sandy areas, uncommon. Dahab Lagoon and northern Gulf of Suez.
