This species is quite polymorphe, conic in form, base careened. Spiral sculpture made by little cords in different sizes three of which can be more prominent (mainly the over-sutural and median one). Whorls flat-sided and suture not much evident. Base flat-sided, sometimes concave. Last whorl is sharp-cornered. Aperture subquadrangular in form, lip simple and columella not much arched. Either dirty white in colour with longitudinal flammulae red-brown or wholly brown in colour.
T. monterosatoi, considered by some authors as a synonym of turbona, is recognizable due to its larger sizes and to its bigger solidity, to its spiral sculpture which is stronger. More commonly it can be found along the Spanish coasts. Average measures of adult specimens are around 45-50 mm in height.

Habitat: it lives on detrital-muddy bottoms as a component of biocenosis of coarse sands (S.G.C.F.) and of detrital coastal bottoms (D.C.) in the circalittoral zone.
Distribution: this species can be found all over the Mediterranean. Common enough.
