The authors description of this species is so poor that CLEMAM include it among the taxa to be checked, that is in incertae sedis. Shell small in size, solid, come in outline, a little bit cyrtoconoid, whorls flattened, base not much convex, umbilicus missing. Aperture subquadrangular. columella not much arched, with a thickening in the lower part. Periphery angular with one cord not much prominent, a little bit undulating. First whorls of teleconch covered by 3-4 spiral little cords, the other whorls have a surface crossed by spiral cords flat undulating (6 on the last whorl) and by growth striae lamellated, prosocline, present on the furrows among the cords but sometimes, above these ones too. At the base there are 5-6 cords concentric flattened, narrower than the furrows. Ground dirty white in colour either with flammulae or brown stains present at the base too. The adult specimens average measures are around 5-6 mm in height.

J. striatus is a species very similar to this one. The authors quote it as a "form connectible with striatus". It is recognizable due to its spiral sculpture which is less clear and to the carina which is more roundish.

It seems this species is endemic of the Straits of Messina (Sicily - Italy). Habitat: it lives in the infralittoral zone, on rocky substrata rich in algae.
