Not much changeable species, conic in form, apex sharpened and whorls either flattened or a little bit convex, base convex, umbilicus missing. Columella arched with a thickening in the lower part. Sculpture made by 6-7 spiral little cords smooth and flat, wider than the grooves into which there are fine growth striae. It is present one wide oversutural belt. Periphery of the last whorl angular, cord very developped and protuberant having some alternate tubercles. Little cords concentric, flat and smooth are evident at the base. Aperture subquadrangular, external lip sharp. Protoconch of about 1.5 whorls with clear spiral striae. Ground yellow-cream, with flammulae in several colours. Dots red and white in colour are present on the spiral little cords. Sutural belt white with stains cither brown or reddish in colour. Basal cord with protuberant tubercles is clear in premature specimens too. The adult specimens average measures are around 5-6 mm in height.

It can be found all over the Mediterranean, less common in the Eastern basin. Also on the Canary Islands. It lives in the upper infralittoral zone, on brown algae of the genus Çystoseira, Halopteris, Dictyota.
