Shell very small, up to 3.9 mm in height (paratype MNHN), weakly spinose, lightly built. Spire high, with 1.5 protoconch whorls, and up to 3.25 broad, weakly angulate, spinose teleoconch whorls. Suture impressed, partially obscured by abapical spiral cord of preceding whorl. Protoconch large, broad, whorls rounded, finely lirate. Terminal varix delicate, thin, raised, weakly curved. Axial sculpture of teleoconch whorls consisting of low, narrow, rounded varices, each with short, broad, blunt spinelets. Other axial sculpture of few growth lamellae. First whorl with 6 or 7 varices, second with 5 or 6, last with 3 or 4. Apertural varix broader and higher than other ones. Spiral sculpture of high, narrow, squamous cords. First whorl with 2 cords, second with 2 or 3, last with 4 cords, occasionally with single secondary cord between first and second primary cords. Aperture small, ovate. Columellar lip narrow, strongly flaring, rim completely erect. Anal notch shallow, broad. Outer lip erect, smooth within. Siphonal canal medium sized, with a single primary spiral cord adaperturally, a few specimens with a secondary cord abaperturally. One, rarely 2 secondary cords between abapical cord of last whorl, and primary cord of siphonal canal. Colour variable, milky-white, pinkish-white, with light brown band on shoulder, or uniformly light tan, orange, or deep pink. Abapical spinelet of last whorl usually white, even in uniformly orange or deep pink specimens. Height of the holotype: 3.7 mm. Operculum light or dark brown with terminal nucleus. Radula not examined.

Muricopsis (Murexsul) micro differs from M. charcoti Houart, 1994 (Fig. 26) (also occurring off southern New Caledonia) in being almost half the size relative to the number of teleoconch whorls, and in having a different microsculpture on the protoconch: punctate in M. charcoti , lirate in M. micra. Otherwise, the shell morphology is extremely similar in both species. M. charcoti lives in 394-450 m, whereas M. micra occurs at considerably shallower depths (20-35 m).
