Description

The shell is small (maximum length 17 mm) and broadly fusiform. The spire is moderately high, consisting of six subangulate postnuclear whorls and a protoconch of undetermined nature. The suture is impressed. The body whorl is broadly fusoid. The aperture is broadly ovate, with a very shallow anal sulcus, strongly turned to the left. The margin of the outer apertural lip is both finely and coarsely dentate, reflecting spiral shell sculpture; the inner surface is weakly crenulate or smooth. The columellar lip is adherent above, detached and erect below. The siphonal canal is of moderate length, open, and dorsally recurved.
The body whorl bears eight strongly raised and frilled varices. Spiral sculpture consists of six cords on the body, these diminishing in strength anteriorly. Following a marked gap in sculpture at the base of the body, the canal bears a single bifid cord. Minor cords and threads occur at irregular intervals. Where the cords intersect the varices, moderately short, strongly recurved, open, weakly foliated spines are developed. Three or four irregular lamellae are developed on the leading edge of each varix.
