Shell conical, a little dome-shaped, solid, shiny in juveniles. Colorless protoconch of about 1/2 whorl with a diameter of about 200-250 um, and a pointed reversed tip, normally eroded in adults. Teleoconch with 3,5 to 4,5 whorls, with quick development, almost flat or only slightly curved, with spiral cords which sometimes are brown in the first whorls, numbering 3 in the first whorls and increasing in the subsequent ones to 4 or 5. Last whorl angulous at periphery; only slightly convex towards the base, 5-6 spiral cords with wide interspaces from the peripheral cord down to the umbilicus. The umbilicus is deep, not very wide and delimited by an angle. Aperture almost rectangular, columella straight and a little prosocline; the external border is raised at the end of the spiral cords. The inner part of the aperture is slightly iridescent. The pattern is formed by brown blotches on the cords with yellowish cream intervals; the subsutural and peripheral blotches are usually larger and darker than the others; in most shells they continue cord after cord forming minute axial spots. Operculum circular and multispiral. Radula typical of the genus with the rachidian tooth with a very short upper extension. Dimensions: The holotype measures 6.0 x 5.4 mm. The paratypes are of similar size or slightly smaller.

The only species from West Africa with some similarity is Gibbula joubini Dautzenberg, 1910, but it is smaller (4.5 mm), with 6,5 whorls, the last one obtuse at the periphery, columella almost vertical.
