• Type species: Dalliconus mcgintyi (Pilsbry, 1955) by original designation. Synonyms: none.
• Shell characters: the shells are small to medium sized (15-75 mm). They are narrowly conical or broadly ovate. The spire is moderately high. Two or more cords are present on the early sutural ramps. The anal notch is deep. The pattern is monochromous with dots or squarish spots or irregular flames on the body whorl.
• Radular characters: the anterior section is shorter and more narrow than the posterior one. There is one barb and two blades. The waist is obvious. The basal spur is present. Biogeography: tropical western Atlantic.
• Ecology: deep water (10-810 m). The animals are collected on soft sediments like muddy sand (Kohn, 2014).
• Diet: vermivorous (Kohn, 2014).
• Comments: this group is sister to the tropical Indo-Pacific genus Fusiconus in molecular phyloge¬nies. The general shape is the same but Dalliconus is only found in the tropical western Atlantic. The wide bodied species have not been sampled in molecular phylogenies. They need more investigations concerning their generic position.
