Shell size small for the genus. Shell is thick and heavy. Shape conical with straight, flat whorls. Overall outline of the shell slightly convex. Protoconch eroded but with convex whorls. Suture shallow but easy to see. Sculpture of the later whorls consists of 4 secondary spiral ribs covered with rounded knobs. There is one double primary spiral rib on the keel, with the upper part more beaded than the lower part. The base is convex and covered with 9 weak spiral ribs that are almost smooth. The umbilicus is open but small. The end of the columella forms a sharp angle with the aperture, giving the shell the appearance of being dentate. The color of the shell is definitely altered because it was dead collected. The cream shell has a tinge of red and a pattern of darker brown flecks that are most prominent below the suture of the last whorl.

We compare this species with the following Cantharidus and Jujubinus from the Indo-Pacific region:
* Jujubinus geographicus n. sp.
Is much smaller, does not have such a rough and pronounced sculpture, lacks the beads on the spiral ribs and has a bright red and green color. Its base is not so convex.
* Jujubinus escondidus n. sp.
Does not have the spiral ribs covered with knobs, but a sculpture of spiral groves. Also a different color pattern.
* Cantharidus infuscatus (Gould, 1861)
From Japan is much bigger, broader shaped, has a lighter shell and a different sculpture.
* Cantharidus suarezensis (Fischer, 1878)
Has a much thinner shell with a smooth sculpture — with spiral ridges — and a much less convex base.
* Cantharidus urbanus (Gould, 1861)
Has a sculpture of spiral groves and not raised spiral ribs with beads.
There is a close resemblance to the European Jujubinus exasperatus (Pennant, 1777), from which it differs in having two rows of peripheral ribs instead pf one. Jujubinus guphili n. sp. has a more pronounced columellar tooth.
