Interchangeable taxa

Most Shark Bay shells are imperforate although some (including the type) have a tiny open umbilicus. Further north the majority are narrowly umbilicate and the shells tend to be more depressed and peripherally rounded.

Distribution

Western Australia. From Fremantle to West Kimberley. Abundant on rocky shores and shelly or stony substrates in seagrass beds. In Roebuck Bay it may be found on shelly rubble on the mud flats. The type specimen is from Shark Bay.
