Distribution

Almost, certainly circumantarctic; also South Shetlands and South Georgia. Within the Ross Sea it has been collected from 171-2804 m. As noted below the antarctic P. spirigera probably forms part of a complex with wide distribution in the colder waters of the southern hemisphere.
