Shell of medium size (40-62 mm), fusiform and slender. The 6 to 7 teleoconch whorls are slightly angulated on the upper whorls and convex on the body whorl. A slight subsutural concavity is present. The large protoconch consists of 3 smooth and glossy whorls, the first whorl small, the latter 2 ones much larger (diameter 1.2 to 1.4 mm) and of equal size. The colour ranges from dirty white to brown.
On the upper whorls. 9 to 12 strong axial ribs are reaching from suture to suture. On the latter whorls, they are reduced to pointed knobs at the periphery, which are paler in colour. On the penultimate whorl, these knobs become smoother and finally they disappear on the body whorl. A strong prelabrial axial rib is present in adult specimens,
On the first teleoconch whorl, 5 to 9 strong and evenly rounded spiral cords with deep interspaces between them. From the third whorl down to the sixth, the 3 spiral cords situated in the middle hecome much more prominent on the top of the axial knobs, pronouncing the angulate shape. The whorl stays rather convex between the axial ribs. On the last whorls, where the axial knobs become weak, these spirals become again indistinguishable from the other spirals. From the fourth whorl on, 2 or 3 fine and unequal intercalated secondary spiral threads appear between euch pair of primary spiral cords. At about the same time from the fourth or fifth whorl on, the upper 2 to 4 spiral cords become weaker, so they are finally equal in strength to these fine secondary spiral threads. On the penultimate whorl, the suture is shoving downwards and 1 to 2 additional spiral cords become visible.
Aperture ovale, pinched at both ends, white coloured. Inside the aperture, the prelabrial varix is visible as a thick rib. 12 to 14 prominent internal spiral lireae produce a strong denticle on this rib. The lip is furrowed: slightly undulated, showing a nick between each undulation, each nick corresponding with a primary spiral cord. Columellar callus smooth and curved, white to cream in colour, well developed on the lower half of the aperture and strong on the siphonal canal. The upper columellar knob is a strong fold, The 2 lower columellar knobs, situated at the end of the columellar folds, are weaker: sometimes only 1 of them is well visible. The straight siphonal canal is long (about 2/5 of the shell length), broader near the aperture and becoming gradually narrower, resulting in a conical shape.
The colour of the shell and the protoconch ranges from dirty white to brown. The axial knobs on the periphery are paler than the shell, their colour ranges from white to yellowish. Some specimens show 2 paler bands on the last part of the body whorl.
Periostracum thin, well-adherent to the shell, and greenish-brown in colour. Some specimens are covered with a dirk-brown layer of dirt.
Operculum corneous, the shape corresponding to the aperture, and ranging in colour from pale yellowish-brown to dark brown.
Raclula with a broad tricuspid central tooth, the cusps equal in size. Lateral teeth with 3 pointed cusps of which the outermost cusp is the largest.

West Africa, from Mauritania south to Ivory Coast, on the continental shelf in depths between 84 and 300 m.
