Popis
Distribution: North Carolina to Florida, Texas, and West Indies. Size: Diameter 2.1 mm; altitude 1.0 mm . Description: Color translucent white in live or fresh material to opaque in worn or dead specimens; shape trochoid; sculpture strongly tricarinate, except for projecting nuclear whorls, somewhat flat on top; protoconch of 3 smooth, glassy whorls that do not terminate, has a noticeable varix; umbilicus open, deep, and funnel shaped, usually bordered by a spiral ridge; aperture oblique, subquadrate.
Habitat: On sand in shallow water. Found alive on most Texas beaches at depths from 0 to 538 m (1765 ft).
Remarks: Common species on Texas coast; unfortunately, specimens are typically dead and worn but quite distinct. See Moore (1964); Ode (1970g, 1987c; 1988b); Tunnell and Chaney (1970). Synonym: Skenea trilix Bush, 1885.
