The shell is solid and conical with straight sides, a flat base and 8 whorls. The earlier whorls are tinged with brown and others are from yellowish to red. The surface of the body whorl has an acutely carinated periphery and 6-7 beaded cords between the suture and the periphery, and 8-10 narrow spiral cords on the base. The aperture is oblique, and the columellar margin is thick¬ened and dilated over the closed umbilicus. Height 19.2 mm., and breadth 14.5 mm (for the type specimen).

This species is characterized by its strictly conical shell with straight sides and the beaded spiral cords on the surface, unlike A. heimburgi and A hematragum (Gmelin).

Type locality: Banshozaki, Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Pref., Honshu. Uncommon on rocks between tide marks from Kii Peninsula, Honshu to Kyushu.
