TYPE LOCALITY None given. Lamarck listed "Grand Indes". Here designated as Cebu, Philippines.
DIAGNOSIS 'Adult shells 50 mm to over 100 mm. in length... relative(ly) slender shell, with a medium to very high spire with 9 to 11 whorls. The first three whorls light brown with radial as well as axial sculpture. Aperture relatively wide, with a flaring and thickened margin in adult specimens. At the posterior portion of the shell, the glaze on the columella often stretches over a large portion of the body whorl, especially in older specimens. The posterior portion of the aperture is attached below or just above the suture, curves slightly upward from the attachment, and subsequently in anterior direction. Siphonal canal normal to long, stromboid notch weak. Sculpture: the whorls following the protoconch at first with radial and spiral sculpture, subsequently with strong radial lines, finally with a single radial line. On the spire often with many white varices which stand out against the colour of the spire whorls. The anterior portion of the body whorl with strong, spiral lines, which become weaker near the central part of the body whorl. Columella and aperture smooth' (revised diagnosis, Man in 't Veld & De Turck 1998: 98).
