This species comes very close to L. blanchardi and L. sigmoidea, in having basically the same adult sculpture, but blanchardi is broader even if it has a very similar protoconch. L. sigmoidea has a more sinuous axial sculpture and a bigger protoconch. The adult shells of "Pleurotoma" dyscrita Watson, from Sombrero I., is also extremely similar, the main differences between the species lying in the protoconchs. It seems therefore virtually impossible to identify at species level a shell of this group with a missing protoconch.
