Habitat: this species was found into muddy detrital sediments samples.
Distribution: more common in the Eastern Mediterranean, it lives in a few metres depth up to remarkable depths.

It is a species with a typical pyriform aspect and with an unmistakable outline, with the umbonal zone hook-like and rather inflated valves. The surface is crossed by fine, concentric and undulated striae. Internal ventral margin crenulated. As far as the juvenile shells are concerned, they arc not so much different in outline from the adult shells . Only the umbo is more protuberant, of course, and the concentric lines are already well defined. The colour pattern changes from uniform light yellow up to brown, sometimes with brown maculae on a lighter ground. The maximum measures reach 7 mm. in height.
