Caecum pulchellum Stimpson, 1851 Beautiful Caecum
Distribution: New Hampshire to Brazil; Texas. Size: 2 mm
Description: Color light brown to white; shape toothlike or tusklike, slightly arched; sculpture with crowded to somewhat spaced spiral ridges, which vary in size and distance between annulations; mucro a low, triangular projection; aperture constricted and round.
Habitat: Seagrass beds, bays, and lagoons. In Texas restricted to offshore shell bottoms and coral reefs. Depth range 1 to 101 m (3 to 330 ft).
Remarks: Similar to C. textile; however, C. textile is more arched, and annulations are rounder and smoother. See Andrews (1977); Ode (1968f, 1988b). Synonym: C capitanum Folin, 1874.
