This species differs from Fossarus tornatilis GOULD in having an elongato-oval shell with many spiral cords on its surface.

Shell small, ashy white, rather thin but solid, elongato-ovate in shape, with sharply pointed apex and a small elevated spire. Whorls 5 in number and rather rapidly increasing their width from the apex to the body whorl. Surface encircled by the narrow, distant spiral cords, 15-20 on the body whorl, except the smooth and polished nuclear whorls. Body whorl very large, occupying about seven-eighths of the shell height and higher than wide, gently curved at the periphery. Aperture semi-elongato-oval in shape, slightly solute from the parietal wall at the posterior corner. Outer margin gently curved, thin at the edge. Inner and columellar margins rather straight and thickened, dilated to the narrow umbilical excavation. Height 5. 0 mm and width 3.4 mm
