Popis
Vermicularia fargoi Olsson, 1951 Fargo's Wormsnail
Distribution: Florida, Texas.
Size: Apex about 18 mm; apex and wormlike teleoconch about 80 mm (3 inch). Description: Color dull gray to yellowish-tan; shape of apex conic and pointed, teleoconch wormlike; apical whorls with 2 spiral cords on upper whorls and 3 spiral cords on lower whorls; teleoconch whorls twisted and separate; 3 thick spiral cords crossed by axial ribs; aperture subquadrate.
Habitat: Found on bay bottoms and mudflats at depths from 0 to 10 m (33 ft). Remarks: To our knowledge, live material has not been reported from Texas, but fragments are common in Port Aransas and Port Isabel. The species listed in Andrews (1977) as Vspirata is this species. See Ode and Speers (1971b); Abbott (1974).
