Distribution: North Carolina to Texas to West Indies; Brazil. Size: 6 to 16 mm
Description: Color white, apex glossy white, teleoconch pure white; shell cap shaped; sculpture of rough, radiating, irregular growth lines; apex buttonlike, located posteriorly, coiled, with nuclear whorls smooth; shelf slanted; flat internal cup attached to inner portion of shell connected to apex, rises near the center posterior portion of shell and then flares to the edge, free portion of the cap thickened into what appears to be a columella-like rounded edge.
Habitat: Dredged just offshore in rubble or shelly bottoms. Found all along the Texas coast at depths from 0 to 183 m (600 ft). Remarks: See Ode and Speers (1969d); Abbott (1974); Rehder (1981); Ode (1983a).
