The shell is small for the genus (maximum length 35 mm) and fusiform. The spire is high, consisting of two nuclear whorls and five or six angulate postnuclear whorls. The suture is weakly impressed and undulate. The body whorl is of moderate size and fusoid. The aperture is moderately large and ovate, with a narrow, shallow anal sulcus and a moderately broad opening into the siphonal canal. The outer apertural lip is erect, barely crenulate marginally, and weakly flaring; its inner surface is weakly furrowed. The columellar lip is weakly callused and adherent posteriorly, detached and erect anteriorly. The siphonal canal is moderately long, bent to the left, and open.
The body whorl bears five or six spinose varices. Spiral sculpture consists of five weak cords, all on the body. Where these cords intersect the varices, short, open, slightly dorsally recurved spines are produced. The shoulder-margin spine is longer than the four other spines.
Shell color is gray-white, with a porcelaneous white aperture.
