The shell is small for the genus (maximum length 42 mm) and fusiform. The spire is high, consisting of one and one-half nuclear whorls and six or seven postnuclear whorls. The suture is in-distinct to completely obscured. The body whorl is of moderate size and fusoid. The aperture is small and ovate, with no perceptible anal sulcus. The outer apertural lip is erect and finely crenulate marginally, and smooth on its inner surface. The columellar lip is largely adherent, but at its anterior end it is slightly detached and barely erect. The siphonal canal is moderately long, fused, and bent to the right.
The body whorl bears three bladelike varices that are broader at their base than at their edge. Intervarical axial sculpture consists of a single low knob, midway in each space. Spiral sculpture consists of five weak major cords and numerous minor cords: between each two consecutive cords are three minor cords, the middle one the most prominent; on the canal several low minor cords are apparent; and the major and minor cords on the body end in small, toothlike points on the varical margin, the largest of these being at the shoulder margin.
Shell color is dirty white, with tinges of blue-gray on the spire, where retained animal matter or mud shows through. The aperture is white, and the tip of the canal is generally suffused with brown-purple.
