Zafrona idalina (Duclos, 1840) Idaline Dovesnail
Distribution: Texas; Bahamas to Bahia; Brazil. Size: 9 mm.
Description: Shell color is brown with white maculations on teleoconch whorls of fresh shells, opaque white in older shells; shape ovate-fusiform; sculpture smooth-ish, upper whorls usually with fine axial threads; spiral threads at base; whorls convex, suture shallow; body whorl more than half the length of shell; spire high and acute; aperture somewhat broad; apertural lip thickened and weakly denticulate on inner side; columella slightly angled; longish denticles on inner surface of outer lip. Habitat: From FGB in coral sand at depth of about 27 m (90 ft). Depth range 1 to 44 m (3 to 144 ft).
