The species is similar to P. crenulata but is usually larger in size with a more elevated spire and a sculpture of elevated, crisp and granose spiral threads. It is highly probable that the species also lives in the Philippines since it is known from Pliocene deposits of that area. The record of "Mulaku Atoll, Maldive Islands" in the BMNH requires confirmation.
