Shell to 27.0 mm in length, cylindrically-elongate, spire short but longer than in P. crenulata. teleoconch of 6-7 whorls, protoconch unknown, sutures without nodules. Sculptured with numerous, finely punctate spiral grooves which number 8-10 on the penultimate and 34-45 on the body whorl, upper spire whorls with spiral cords and bisecting axial striae. Aperture longer than the spire but shorter than in P. crenulata, narrow and smooth within, outer lip thickened and crenulate, columella not calloused and with 6-7 oblique folds. White in color, ornamented with reddish-brown, net-like spiral lines and a few indistinct blotches between the lines anteriorly to the suture and larger streaks which coalesce into a broad band on the lower third of the body whorl, aperture white.

This rare species is superficially similar to P. crenulata (Gmelin), but differs in having a shorter aperture with the outer lip positioned lower on the body whorl, and numerous finely punctate spiral grooves rather than the fewer nodulose spiral grooves of P. crenulata.

Range - From the Philippines to the Tuamotu Archipelago. Habitat - In sand, intertidal and subtidal.
