As Conus verrucosus:
Shell elongate-conical, with a high spire, composed of about ten grooved whorls; suture deep and distinct; shoulder sharp; body whorl nearly straight, grooved except at extreme upper part, each ridge generally bearing a row of small tubercles. Color whitish, irregularly clouded with brown. Length, 27 mm.; diameter, 12 mm.

Distribution: Texas, Gulf of Mexico; Caribbean, Brazil; Africa. Size: 103 mm (4 in).
Description: Color usually white with pale chocolate maculations, Texas specimens whitish-orange with spiral bands of darker shades of orangish-brown; shape biconic; sculpture of faint spiral and axial threads with stronger irregular, axial growth lines on surface of shell; spiral threads strongest at base; spire domed and pointed if not eroded; spire whorls flattened; shoulder of body whorl rounded; aperture moderately wide and broadest at base; columella angled anteriorly.
Habitat: Texas offshore banks and reefs to a depth of about 101m (330 ft). Depth range 0 to 101 m (330 ft).
Remarks: Somewhat rare; found at Stetson Bank and FGB. See Clench and Bullock (1970); Lipka (1974); Walls (1979).
