Olivella lactea (Marrat, 1871) Adele's Dwarf Olive
Distribution: Texas, Florida. Size: 13 mm.
Description: Color leaden white, sometimes speckled with brown axial splotches or suffusions of light brown, apical area may have a bluish tint, basal area white; shape elongate and slender; sculpture smooth; spire tall, elevated, conic; suture in front of whorl, producing a slight channel; aperture triangular; columella with horizontal plicae; plicae becoming weaker toward base; upper outer lip with a channel where the lip meets the body whorl; siphonal notch abrupt.
Habitat: In sand and mud at depths from low-tide line to 40 m (131 ft).
Remarks: This snail is usually found in calm, sheltered areas. See Ode (1973c); Jong
