Shell. A smooth, glossy and semitransparent conical shell. The spire is more or less straight-sided (when the convexity of the whorls is overlooked) and has a blunter apex than in Aclis spp. The whorls, compared with those of Aclis spp. are only moderately swollen and the sutures are correspondingly shallow and lie only just below the periphery of the upper whorl. There are 9 whorls without obvious ornament, the last rather more tumid than the others. Aperture. In many shells the aperture is a rather narrow oval, in others it is broader: this seems to depend primarily on the course followed by the outer lip and the extent to which it is everted basally. In all, it arises at, or just below, the periphery of the last whorl, and follows a smooth curve to the base. In shells with broad apertures the base is rather flattened, little turned out, and the lip makes a more or less rectangular contact with the base of the columella. When the aperture is narrow the base shows a spout-like out-turning and the angle between columella and outer lip is acute. There is an umbilical chink. Colour. White or colourless. Size. Up to 5 x 2 mm. Last whorl = c. 50% of total shell height; aperture = c. 33% of total shell height.
Animal. There is no snout, the mouth (the opening of an introvert from which an acrembolic proboscis may be protruded) lying on the underside of the head. Two tentacles arise from its anterior end, each with a sessile basal eye. The mantle edge is plain, and the mantle cavity contains a small ctenidium and an open genital duct. The propodium is well developed and in front of it opens the duct of a vast pedal gland. Colour. White.
