The shell is large (maximum length 55 mm) and fusiform. The spire is high, consisting of one and one-half nuclear whorls and six shouldered postnuclear whorls. The suture is undulate and weakly impressed. The body whorl is large, trigonal, and fusoid. The aperture is moderately large and ovate to sub trigonal, with a flattened anterior margin; the anal sulcus is narrow, very shallow, and angled toward the left, its parietal margin formed by a very weak transverse ridge running into the aperture. The outer apertural lip is barely erect and marginally crenulate, thickening abruptly behind the margin; its inner surface bears six evenly spaced denticles, the uppermost one situated interior to the shoulder margin, The columellar lip is lightly callused and entirely adherent, with a barely discernible indentation and a weak swelling at its anterior end. The siphonal canal is of moderate length, broad, open, and weakly, dorsally recurved.
The body whorl bears two moderately developed lateral varices; between the varices, at the shoulder margin, are three low bumps. Spiral sculpture consists of nine subobsolete cords, one on the shoulder slope, four generally obsolete on the canal, and four on the body. Except for the shoulder cord, which gives rise to a strong, short, dorsally hooked point at each varix, all cords produce minute points on the margin of the heavily thickened varix. The leading edge of the varix shows these cords most strongly.
Shell color is predominantly blue-gray, with cream-colored portions on the varices and below the suture. The intervarical knobs may be pale gray-brown. The apertural margin is porcelaneous white; the interior and the tip of the canal are suffused with purple-brown.
