The shell is moderate in size (maximum length 70 mm) and fusiform. Its spire is high, consisting of nine convex postnuclear whorls and a protoconch of undetermined nature. The suture is deeply impressed. The body whorl is moderately small and fusoid. The aperture is ovate, with an Inverted-U-shaped anal sulcus, strengthened on the left by a thickened spiral ridge. The outer apertural lip is erect and marginally dentate; its inner surface is lirate. The columellar lip is erect. The siphonal canal is long, moderately broad, tapering, narrowly medially open, and distally recurved.
The body whorl bears the three varices typical of Chicoreus and, generally, two prominent intervarical costae. Spiral sculpture consists of numerous major and minor cords and minutely tuberculate threads. Where the major cords intersect the varices, they turn vertically to become long, recurved, distally foliated spines. The shoulder spine is the longest, and a second, smaller spine is developed lower down on the body. Between these two spines and below the lower spine toward the canal there are a few very short, ventrally bent spines. Two moderately long, slender spines are developed on the canal, these intercalated with minor, ventrally bent spines.
Shell color is white or ochre to brown. The aperture is porcelaneous white.
