The main features for Euchelus are a rather big size (H up to 23 mm), numerous finely beaded spiral cords, a poorly cancellate and never foveolate sculpture. The main feature is a single weak columella tooth, lacking the peg-like tooth coupled with an U-shaped notch on the basal lip, distinctive for Herpetopoma.
