Shell ovate, equilateral; posterior end slightly produced, broadly truncate; sulcus pronounced. Prodissoconch large, smooth. Sculpture of even, closely spaced commarginal ribs over entire surface. Length to 3 mm.
If this synonymy proves correct, widely distributed in deep waters: East and South Atlantic, Antarctic Ocean, Indian Ocean; in the eastern Pacific, from off Point Arguello (34.7°N) [LACM] to Patton Escarpment (31.2°N) [LACM], California, in 2,278-5,160 m.

Shell small solid, covered by a greenish periostracum, very convex. Anterior part broadly rounded. Posterior end obliquely pointed and truncated. The sculpture consists of equidistant, rounded concentric ribs, about 22 in the first mm, counted from the ventral margin. Towards the dorsal margin they become fainter and disappear completely before reaching it. There is no keel from the posterior ventral corner, but only a very faint, broadly rounded ridge. The hinge is very solid and broad; it consists of seven teeth on each side of the ligament pit, beside a small distal denticle at the end of each row. The pallia! line and muscle scars arc rather well defined but this is a characteristic which is very dependent on die state of preservation. Dimensions of the holotype: length 2.55 mm. height 1.96 mm. breadth 1.44 mm.

The specimen here selected as holotype was marked 'figured' and agrees very well with the dimensions given by VERRILL & BUSH. It also fits their figure. For this reason it can be assumed that this is the specimen from which their description was made. The shallow-water material referred to L. messanensis by VERRILL & BISH (loc. cit.) belongs to other species.
L. bushae seems to be rather close to Ledella ultima (SMITH, 1885), but does not have more than traces of ‘the distinct impression from the umbo', mentioned in the original description of that species. L. sublaevis VERRILL & BUSH, 1898, can be separated by its smooth shell and more slender outlines. Ledella confinis (SMITH. 1885), is shorter, its posterior end is more pointed and the surface is smoother. From Yoldiella acuminata it is separated by being much more globose, by its more regular sculpture, more roundish outlines and much more solid shell.
