In the adult shells the valves ornamentation is really peculiar. It is made by a close series of sinuous lines divergent from the valve central point towards the margins, besides the concentric growth lines. This sculpture is unmistakable and therefore it is easily recognizable. The ornamentation is not well defined in the juvenile specimens which are more stretched in form, with a dorsal concavity near the umbo more defined and assuming, once adults, the typical outline circular in form, with a diametre of abt. 10 mm. The internal margin is crenulated, usually white in colour. The average measures are 8 mm in diametre.

Habitat: it lives on detrital-muddy bottoms in low depths.
Distribution: common all over the Mediterranean, mainly in the South. Il lives in the Black Sea too. Imaged shells: they are coming from sediments samples dredged in Haifa port (Israel) at 8-22 m depth.
